LPGS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding and child protection are at the heart of our culture and are the responsibility of every member of our school community. 


We are dedicated to ensuring that robust, consistent and effective safeguarding procedures are in place to protect and support students, families and staff, creating a safe environment for all.  

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as the following:  

  • Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge  
  • Protecting children from maltreatment  
  • Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development 
  • Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care 
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

We follow the procedures set out by the Bromley Safeguarding Children Board and the London Safeguarding Children Board and take account of guidance issued by the Department for Education.

Bromley Safeguarding Children Partnership (BSCP)

Bromley Safeguarding Children Partnership (BSCP) is a multi-agency working in partnership with different agencies and organisations to protect and promote the welfare of children and young people in the borough. BSCP includes early years and education establishments, health commissioners and providers, Local Authority, Metropolitan Police, probation and justice services, CAFCASS, voluntary and community sector as well as lay members.

Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre

NSPCC

The NSPCC Helpline allows any adult concerned about a child to receive expert advice. They offer guidance, suggest local services, or escalate concerns directly to the police and Children’s Services.

Operation Encompass is a unique police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership, which involves the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic violence incident. 


Operation Encompass will ensure that the Dedicated Safeguarding Lead is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been involved in, or exposed to, a domestic abuse incident, should this be necessary.
