The Library

The Library is at the heart of the school. It seeks to promote a life-long love of reading and learning, which will in turn enhance students’ academic, personal and social development

The Library is staffed throughout the day from 08.00 to 16.00. It provides a welcoming environment for reading and study, together with a computer suite for homework and research. Members of the Sixth Form make extensive use of the Library for private study.

Reading-for-pleasure has a positive impact on all aspects of learning and is a marvellous way to relax, so enhancing our sense of wellbeing.  With this in mind, the Library offers an excellent range of fiction for all age groups. In addition, LPGS is a Lit in Colour school and seeks to increase diversity in the curriculum by promoting books by writers of colour.

All Year 7 students have a Library Lesson every other week. The Librarian presents a programme of activities designed to develop reading for both confident and reluctant readers. Year 8 and 9 students have timetabled Library visits. The following Book Lists give recommendations for KS3 and KS4 students.

Would you like to donate a book to the School Library?

A book donation is a lovely way to support the Library and is really appreciated.

The Library at LPGS has set up an Amazon List  where you can purchase a book using your Amazon account and have it sent directly to the school, by using our Gift Registry Address at the Checkout. When a book has been donated, a book plate giving the name of the donor will be placed inside.
