Head Prefects' Welcome
Welcome from our Head Prefects
Sahar A, Head Prefect
My name is Sahar and I started at LPGS in year 7. Now in Year 13, I am studying Law, Psychology and Economics. I chose this mix because I have a passion for essay and humanities subjects which explore why society behaves the way it does. I am looking at pursuing Law in the future and believe I have a solid foundation with the subjects I have chosen and through the help of the Sixth Form Team.
The LPGS6 motto is ‘Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders’. This reflects how, at this pivotal stage in our lives, we are making choices that shape our future, while striving to reach our highest potential. Our Sixth Form team is immensely helpful in supporting us to achieve this. We attend UCAS/university trips to explore our future opportunities. Our award-winning Careers Team help us find work experience to get hands on experience in different fields and set up a phenomenal Careers Fair where students get to meet different employers and ask anything they want.
Alongside this, we have a Student Leadership Team which works in partnership with teachers at the school. The importance of this is to have student voice be heard and make the experience of all students better. Higher education is not just about being ‘locked in’ 24/7. Life is about balance. That is why the Student Prefect Team and SLT are great at cooperating and organising fun events to allow us to give our hardworking selves a nice break.
Finally, I want to highlight the incredible diversity that makes this school so special. The ethos of ‘everyone is welcome here’ isn’t just a slogan: it’s something I’ve truly experienced. Being part of a community where friendships span across different ethnicities, LGBTQ+ identities, and abilities has given me a deep sense of belonging. This inclusive environment has made my Sixth Form experience feel richer, more empowering, and distinctly different from secondary school.
Adonye O, Head Prefect
My name is Adonye, and I study Law and Cambridge Technical Business, while also taking Computer Science outside of school, with the goal of pursuing an apprenticeship where I can gain hands-on experience in the working world.
What first struck me about LPGS6 when I first started was the welcoming community here. Even on induction day, despite the miserable weather, the students I met were warm, friendly, and eager to get to know one another. That sense of inclusion has only grown stronger since. At LPGS6, everyone has a voice and you quickly feel like you belong.
The support we receive here is second to none. Our Senior Leaders treat us less like students being instructed and more like young adults being guided, preparing us for life beyond school. The careers team also play a huge role – they helped me to secure a work experience placement that gave me invaluable insight into the professional world.
Outside of academics, I’ve been able to pursue enrichment activities such as British Sign Language and First Aid, both of which have given me skills for life. I also play the violin, run track, and bake, though I’ve learned that trying to play Bach while making cupcakes usually ends in disaster!
What truly sets LPGS6 apart is its sense of community. From big birthday celebrations to the shared laughter when our sports day was rained off, it feels like one big family here. It’s a place that not only pushes you to achieve academically but also shapes you into a confident, independent individual ready for the future.
Since joining, one of the biggest skills I’ve developed is self-belief. I’ve learned that I am capable not only of achieving strong grades, but also of stepping up as a leader and taking opportunities outside my comfort zone, whether that’s speaking at public events or working in professional environments. That confidence is something I know will stay with me long after Sixth Form.
