FAD Fashion Futures 2017 Launched

FAD 2017 LaunchLast Saturday 21st January FAD launched the 2017 FAD Fashion Futures at the V&A. Over 60 young people from Greater London and the surrounding areas came together at the V&A’s grand Lecture Hall to start this year’s course.

Amongst the 60 attendees were 4 students from LPGS (Ayo Joseph, Maija Carr, Patience Murapa and Issy Daniels)

The programme will require the girls to give up 11 Saturdays in their own time plus attendance at multiple half term workshops before seeing if they have made the finals. (Last year 2 of our girls made it to the finals!)

FAD 2017 Launch2The theme for 2017 is 'Tastemakers_Europe'. Students will be expected to take inspiration from European artists, and then inject some of this into new, original creations. This could be in the form of shape, colour, texture…..

After getting to meet some recent FAD graduates the FF 2017 cohort ventured into the European galleries for the afternoon to explore, research, sketch and gather ideas and inspiration. This all important task will form the creative backbone of their designs, which they’ll bring to life over the course of the next 11 weeks culminating in the creation of their own outfit.

Congratulations yet again to the textiles team for inspiring their students to give up so much of their own time. We wish Ayo, Maija, Patience and Issy the best of luck!

The competition can be followed via this blog and following @FADCharity.
