PTA

The PTA Committee is a small group of friendly parents who meet approximately once every half term with a School representative to organise social and fundraising events. 

The money raised by the PTA is used to support the School by funding items needed by the School that would otherwise probably not be possible to purchase via normal funding routes.

WHAT EVENTS DOES THE PTA DO?

Events organised have included family quizzes which are always popular, book sales, fairs and other social gatherings. Unfortunately our last event was an indoor table sale but that has had to be deferred due to Covid restrictions and this has impacted on what we would normally organise.

Future events under consideration range from race nights, comedy evenings, fun runs and the indoor table sale when possible to do these again.

We are though always open to ideas for activities so let us know if you have a suggestion.

The PTA also supports School events by providing help and drinks during the intervals in School’s concerts for the benefit of the parents who attend.

WHAT IS THE MONEY RAISED SPENT ON?

Fundraising by the PTA has seen many direct purchases made possible in response to specific appeals from teachers.

This has included all sorts of items ranging from cameras for design work to specialist equipment for scientific experiments, not forgetting  general things such  as picnic benches for lunch time use and pictures to brighten up the classroom corridors.The constant squeeze on School budgets makes the purchase of these things really important and we are never short of requests from teachers for help!

50/50 Club

The PTA is excited to run the LPGS PTA 50/50 Club

It is believed that the chances of winning the main National Lottery game are 14 MILLION TO ONE, so why waste a pound on such high odds when you have a much, much better chance of winning £50 every month by joining the LPGS PTA 100 CLUB and helping the school in the process!

For a fee of £12 a year you have the chance to win a monthly prize of £50. Additional prizes are awarded if subscription levels allow. The draw takes place at the end of every month (or term end for holiday dates) by the Headteacher or the Deputy Headteacher.

YOU HAVE TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT!

One half of the money raised will go in prize money. After administration costs have been met, all other money will benefit the school and its students.

  • Prize winners will be notified personally within two weeks of the draw.
  • Winners’ names will be displayed on the website.
  • The PTA is registered with the Local Authority under the Gambling Act 2005.
  • No child under the age of 16 years may be a member of the club.
  • The draw can take place with fewer than 100 members, in which event the prize money will be adjusted accordingly.

 

FAQS

What is the 100 Club Fund?

The 100 Club Fund is a lottery run to support the school. Draws are made at the end of each month throughout the academic year, starting at the end of September and running through to August.

How does it work?

Each member pays £12 per year per share and that puts them in to a monthly draw, with the chance of winning £50 per draw. The prize money is dependent on there being 100 members. If there are more than 100 members, then the prize money will increase. 50% of all income will be allocated as prize money. Each member gets an individual number per share they own.

Who can join?

Parents, students, teachers, family members and friends. Under 16’s are NOT allowed to take part as per the Gambling Act 2005. Applicants are not limited to one membership.

How does it help the school?

50% of all money taken in membership goes to the PTA who then fund school requests for help.

How can I join?

By submitting a membership form and remittance and sending it in to the School's Reception, either through the post or by hand.

All applications must be received by 15th September each year to ensure inclusion for all draws. Applications cannot be accepted after this date.

Second Hand Uniform

If your daughter has outgrown any of her school or sport uniform, please donate this to the PTA so that we can provide affordable replacements to the school community. Donations can be brought into school and left with Reception. Please clearly mark your bag 'SECOND HAND UNIFORM' and remove any name labels.

Recycle 4 Charity

Do you have an inkjet printer at home or work? Do you have old mobiles lying around that you do not use?

 

We are now registered with Recycle 4 Charity

  • For every inkjet cartridge you recycle through their service, you will raise £1 for the PTA.
  • Some mobile phones can raise as much as £70 so if you are looking at getting a new phone please think about recycling your old one.
  • There is a recycling box specifically for mobile phones in the School Reception.
  • If you have any phones to donate, please hand them in to Reception and they will add them to the box.
  • Once we have collected 25 phones we can send the box back for recycling.
