Best Ever GCSE Results!

Staff & students at LPGS are celebrating the best ever set of GCSE results. The progress that students make from their starting points is estimated to have increased significantly with a far greater proportion of students achieving the top grades in both English and maths. 50% of students in English achieved a grade 9-7 (up 10% on last year) and 32% in maths (up 7%).

The progress students make from their starting points in four out of five subjects has jumped considerably in comparison with last year with attainment following suit. For example in History, 14% of students achieved a Grade 9; Dance 15%; Physics 27%; Spanish 13% and in RE almost 50%. These grades are determined by comparing achievement of year 11 students across the country. There were an incredible 157 grade 9s, 246 grade 8s and 296 grades 7s.

Less than 2% of students achieve a grade 9. To see so many grade 9s at LPGS is remarkable.

There were some incredible sets of results amongst the students with Elina & Helena achieving 8 grade 9s and 1 grade 7 each; Lucy who achieve 9x7,8,7; Sofia 7x9,88; Remy 6x9,888 and Saskia who achieved 6x9,88. In terms of progress the following students achieved the most of this particular year group Anam, Eleanora, Amelia, Holly, Lucy, Tunmininu, Mia and Krichma.

Headteacher Ms Katie Scott said. ‘We are of course very proud of our students’ achievements. The jump in both progress and attainment is testimony to the hard work of students and their teachers. We also recognise the tremendous support that is provided by parents and carers. One of the aspects of these results of which we are most proud is the achievement of the students that are classified as ‘disadvantaged. Estimates show that they have achieved more at LPGS than they would have been expected to, on average, by more than half a grade across 10 qualifications in 8 subjects. On the back of the strongest A-Level results released last week, we are looking forward the starting the next academic year with the knowledge that whatever a young person’s starting point, whatever their background, we know we can enable them to achieve their potential and give them the life chances and choices that they deserve.’
