Music Tour to Leipzig

Congratulations to everyone involved in a very well organised and successful tour to Leipzig over February half term.

Ms Brown, Head of Performing Arts, who participated, wrote:
‘I thought I would let you know the tour was fantastic. It was definitely the best I have been on. Brilliantly organised. The students were amazing, and the manager of the hotel went out of her way to find me and tell me that not only were they well behaved but they were friendly and articulate. The concerts were excellent. Ms Mehrabi has done a fantastic job with this. My highlight was our tour of Dresden. Our guide was involved as a leader of the group which worked towards the reunification of Germany - a peaceful revolution. She gave a really interesting insight into her life under communism and the rebuilding of Dresden after the 1945 bombing. She was involved in the rebuilding of Dresden and its cultural heritage. As Amber Ward said - the best history lesson ever. Leipzig was full of musical tradition.

We heard Bach being rehearsed in the church it was composed for. We went to the Handel house and saw posters for and pictures of concerts in the Crystal Palace.’
