Summer Market 2016
Summer Market 3rd July 2016
After months of planning, a few sleepless nights and many fingers crossed for dry weather, the Summer Market took place on Sunday 3rd July and the day was enjoyed by all.
We had some fantastic stallholders selling everything from fashion, jewellery, pictures and cosmetics to glasses cases and vintage glassware.
We were entertained with fantastic music organised by Ms Mehrabi and it was lovely to see some of the students taking part.
The candy floss stall proved very popular as was the BBQ. The second hand uniform stall almost sold out so thank you to everyone who donated their unwanted uniform and please send in anymore you have to build our stock back up.
The bottle tombola stall had a steady queue most of the day and sold out by 2pm.
We were fortunate to have lots of raffle prizes donated and I would like to say a special thank you to all the businesses that supported us. A special mention to Sharon Jones Mitchell who donated our 1st prize of £170 Top Shop vouchers, Tracy Sturrock who arranged for her employers, Aberdeen Asset, to donate the Fortnum & Mason Hamper and Julia Garvey who’s company, GOJIMO, paid for the raffle tickets to be printed.
The top 3 raffle prizes were won by:
- 1st prize - £170 Top Shop voucher – P Abbott – ticket number 9249
- 2nd prize – Fortnum & Mason Hamper – Ella Black 9KB – ticket number 6568
- 3rd prize - £100 Sainsbury’s vouchers – Mr S H Sutton – ticket number 5585
These and all the other prize winners have been notified.
The form that sold the most raffle tickets and will be winning a chocolate hamper is 7SK. Well done girls.
Attendance was lower than we had hoped for but we are hoping to build on this for the future.
We made just over £2300 on the day and with advance takings from the raffle, estate agents boards, own clothes day and stallholders fees, we have raised just over £5000!!
We have a few parents who are able to claim matched funding from their employers so we are hoping the final figure will be closer to £6000. If you work for an employer who offers matched funding, please consider approaching them. A list of the employers who offer this scheme can be found here: http://www.stedwardsoxford.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/UK-Companies-Operating-a-Matching-Gift-Scheme1.pdf
The PTA would like to thank all the parents who volunteered, bought raffle tickets, donated bottles and cakes, agreed to have an estate agent board and finally, visited the Market on the day.
A huge thank you to all our stallholders for taking a stall on the day. We hope it was a successful day for them too.
And finally we would like to thank the staff. To the form tutors who passed on the PTA communications. In the Resources area for printing and laminating all our signs and programmes. To the site management team who helped us make sure that everything was set up in time and ran smoothly on the day.
To the music department for providing the entertainment and the technicians for arranging the PA system for us.
Without everyone working together we could not have pulled it off.
We wish you all a great summer and look forward to welcoming you to a PTA event in the new academic year. Save the date, the first one is our Fish & Chip Quiz Night on Friday 7th October!
