Sports Day 2015
The time has come again for our annual Sports Day at Norman Park Athletics Track on Wednesday 1st July 2015. This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole school community to enjoy a superb sporting facility which we have in the local area. On the day itself, ALL students in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 from LPGS must arrive at Norman Park to be registered by 9.30am promptly and will then be dismissed at the end of the day at around 2.30pm. This is a compulsory day for all Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 students. School will be closed to all students on this day.
What to bring
We ask that all students bring a packed lunch, plenty of fluids to drink, a hat and sun cream with them on the day. For those students who receive free school meals, a packed lunch will only be provided if notified on the reply slip. Students may wish to bring some money (£2-£3) to spend on additional drinks/snacks and face painting.
If students require any medication please ensure they bring this - including asthma inhalers, allergy tablets etc.
As well as the usual athletic events, we will be holding a range of other activities for students to participate in, with sufficient events to ensure all pupils are active on this day. For this we ask that ALL students wear suitable sports kit and tracksuit. We would like students to represent their houses on Sports Day. Therefore we are encouraging students to wear their house colours on the day. This means simply exchanging their usual white school PE polo shirt for a t-shirt of their house colour, for example, if your daughter is in Gamma, a green t-shirt may be worn. If you do not have a suitable t-shirt, a coloured hair tie or even shoe laces could be used instead. Vest tops/strappy tops and jeans are not permitted and any student dressed inappropriately will be expected to change into LPGS sports kit which will be made available at Norman Park. Please support us in the smooth running of this event by ensuring your daughter is suitably dressed.
Your daughter will be expected to wear a school tracksuit over her other clothes on the journey to and from Norman Park. If she does not have a school tracksuit, she should wear an appropriate dark coloured tracksuit. Students will not be allowed to use the changing facilities at the Park.
Staffing and Facilities
At the track there will be students from four year groups and all school staff. There will also be staff from the athletics track to ensure our students’ safety. There are onsite facilities for the students to use including toilets, changing areas and a First Aider available for the duration of the event in case of any medical emergencies.
In the event of bad weather
In the event that Sports Day would have to be cancelled we will be using a 3 day weather forecast to assess the weather. We will alert all students the day prior to Sports Day and via the school website if there is a cancellation, meaning a normal school day would then go ahead.
Norman Park is very accessible via train, car, bus or foot. The nearest train stations are Hayes or Bromley South, with a short walk; the easiest bus route is the 119 (Hayes Lane); by car you will find the athletics track off Hayes Lane, Bromley, BR2 9EF and it is accessible by foot also.
We would like to invite you to come to Norman Park to support your daughter on the day to create an electric atmosphere for her to compete in. There will also be refreshments available to purchase with all proceeds going to charity.
Thank you in advance for your support.
